SAPA-GP President Office Announcement

Dear SAPA-GP Members and Friends,

We hope you and your family are healthy during this COVID-19 crisis. As the pandemic continues to spread across the globe, SAPA-GP President Office would like to give you an update on how SAPA-GP serves our community during this challenging time.

In compliance with social distancing policy and protecting our members, we decided to cancel our 2020 SAPA-GP Annual Conference in June and move our best scientific, business, and career programs to the webinar platform.  Since May, we have successfully broadcasted four webinar sessions. Please visit our website for more exciting online events in the next few months.

Thanks to the generous support of our members and sponsors, SAPA-GP COVID-19 relief committee received more than $4000 donations and delivered thousands of personal protective equipment (PPE) to multiple health institutions in the Greater Philadelphia area.  The team will continue supporting local healthcare professionals until the COVID-19 pandemic is under control.

In order to ensure continuity of our leadership team, SAPA-GP Executive Office held a meeting on July 5th to initiate the contingency election process following the bylaws.  At the meeting,  Haichen Yang and Yang Yuan, President-elect candidates nominated by SAPA-GP President Office, shared their passion to serve the organization and presented their vision for SAPA-GP’s future. After post-meeting online voting by members of SAPA-GP Executive Office, Haichen Yang was elected as 2022 SAPA-GP President-Elect. Congratulations to Haichen Yang and thank Yang Yuan for her leadership.

Haichen Yang is now joining Fang Shen (2020 President) and Yongchao Su (2021 President-elect) to serve in the SAPA-GP President office.  Jing Yang, SAPA_GP immediate past-President, will transition to her new role as a member of SAPA-GP advisory board. We would like to thank Jing for her dedication to this organization. During her term serving as SAPA-GP President in 2019-2020, Jing led multiple successful events, launched Advanced Therapies in Philly initiative (@Philly, working together with the Executive Office), and  established our new Executive Office structure that improved SAPA-GP operation to a new level.

Our new President Office will commit to our mission and continue providing valuable services to our community. We look forward to your continuous support in the future.
