Named in honor of our long-term supporter Dr. Song Li, Founder and Chairman of Frontage Laboratories, the SAPA-GP Song Li Scholarship recognizes and supports students from high school to graduate level.
Students in grades 7–12 write an essay on the theme “From Recombinant DNA to AI: What Scientific Revolutions Teach Us About Innovation, Risk, and Responsibility.” Finalists present their work in person before a panel of leaders from science, technology, and industry.
Under the SAPA-GP Song Li Scholarship, SAPA-GP awards students at several levels:
Essay and business-pitch competitions for middle- and high-school students, judged by leaders from science and industry.
For undergraduate and graduate students presenting research posters at the SAPA-GP Annual Conference.
For student volunteers who have made persistent and impactful contributions to SAPA-GP for at least three years.
For top-performing students in grades 6–12 taking part in the Delaware Valley Science Fairs.
In 2022 the scholarship supported two college-bound Pennsylvania high-school graduates pursuing STEM degrees with a cash award of $15,000 per year for up to three consecutive academic years. Applications closed on September 12, 2022. Details of that cycle remain available in the news archive.
